How to have the best hibernation weekend ever at Hotel Zed

Winter winds and snowfall are reason enough to shack up in a warm, comforting space – and when that space is jam-packed with opportunities for play, you’ll find it hard to emerge. Hotel Zed’s Kelowna and Victoria properties are designed with fun in mind, from the moment you arrive to your final farewell ‘gram. Here’s how we would spend a full weekend at the Zed:

Saturday

After checking in, drop off your gear and head straight for the sauna. Fun fact: you can craft your own hot-and-cold hydrotherapy cleanse by alternating between the pool and hot tub. In Victoria, have your travel companion take a video as you brave the epic Zedinator waterslide – consider it a YouTube success story in the making.
Post-soak, it’s time to relax in the comfort of your room. Sprawl out on the bed and dive into the comic book provided by Hotel Zed for your reading pleasure. After all, when was the last time you took a time-out to unplug?
Later, head to the lobby where you can chill at the vinyl listening stations while checking out the zany décor. Headphones in, close your eyes and give yourself permission to sway to the beat – there’s nothing more centring than finding your groove.

Now for dinner. Hotel Zed Victoria boasts The Ruby, a tempting combination of New York rotisserie and Austin diner that’s famous for its dry-rubbed rotisserie chicken. In Kelowna, ask the staff for recommendations of locally loved eateries (and wherever you go, don’t forget to sample the region’s incredible wine). 
Dance away the rest of your evening in Kelowna at the Hotel Zed’s mini-disco – the rad fog machine sets the scene for an epic disco party. In Victoria, chill in the Ping Pong Lounge, where you and your travel compadre can engage in your own World Championships or challenge each other to a side-by-side Wii duel. 

Sunday

Sleep in (you deserve it!) and, in Victoria, head back to The Ruby for crisp waffles and savoury eggs benedict. In Kelowna, grab (free!) coffee in the hotel lobby and hit the streets to find a café that suits your breakfast desires (we like Pulp Fiction Coffee House).

Time for a board game marathon! Hotel Zed stocks a massive collection of old- and new-school favourites, so select wisely and get ready for a diehard championship. Winner pays for tonight’s cocktails!

By this point, you might be craving fresh air (and let’s be honest – you want to see some of the destination you’ve travelled to). Hop on one of Hotel Zed’s free rental bikes and take a spin around town. There’s no better way to explore two of British Columbia’s most beautiful cities than a heart-pumping ride. Alternatively, in Victoria you can board one of Hotel Zed’s retro shuttles, which zip downtown regularly.

In the evening, brave the wild outdoors of Hotel Zed Kelowna’s three rooftop patios – one features a blazing fire pit to keep you warm as you watch moonlight sparkling on the nearby lake. In Victoria, borrow a bike or longboard and roll downtown for celebratory cocktails and dinner. It might be the last night of your trip, but we have a feeling there will be plenty of Hotel Zed stays in your future!
